and is a favourite stop over place for ramblers and hikers, many of them from Europe.

Glenties is a few kilometres from the sea. An abundance of amenities for both both active and passive pursuits makes the town a mecca for tourists to the North West of Ireland. Here the visitor can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of the surrounding countryside that stretches from the glens around the town to the Blue Stack Mountains to the south and Gweebarra Bay and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.

There is no shortage of other activities for visitors to the area. For golfers the 18 hole golf course at Portnoo is only a few miles away while the nearby Owenea River with its well stocked supply of salmon and trout keeps the keen angler fully occupied.

St. Connell's Museum and Heritage Centre, Glenties is a popular attraction for visitors, especially for those who are interested in the history and culture of the area.

Further afield (62 Kilometres) is Glenveagh National Park and en route visitors can stop off at Ionad Cois Locha, Dunlewey at the edge of the Poison Glen.
